The Only Cream Cheese Frosting Recipe You’ll Ever Need

Last week was an insanely crazy week here at the Taylor household. On top of working part time hours at the hospital, taking care of the dynamic duo, and household chores I also had last minute party preparations to take care of. I’d just like to take a quick second to thank all of my wonderful friends and family members for putting up with the hot mess that was me last week. YIKES!

M turned three on Friday! Three! It doesn’t seem possible that we should have a three year old, especially because it feels like just yesterday we brought her home from the hospital. If anyone knows where the time flies off to, please, let me know.

M’s Cake and Cupcakes – all made by yours truly!

To celebrate her birthday OF COURSE we had a party. What party would be complete without cake, and what cake would be complete without frosting?! The frosting is definitely the best {and my favorite} part of cake.

I’m not a huge fan of plain ol’ vanilla buttercream. Don’t get me wrong, it’s still good, but Cream Cheese Frosting is where it’s at! My cream cheese frosting recipe is hands down, without a doubt the best . I’ve had too many people to count ask me for my recipe. It also goes well with more things than just cake. You can put it on cinnamon rolls, sugar cookies, or even use the leftover frosting to spread on graham crackers.

I always feel like it’s so hard to find good frosting recipes, especially because I always want the frosting to be just right. Like I said before, the frosting makes the cake! So I thought that I would make it a little easier on you and do the hard part of figuring out the  Best Ever Cream chreese frosting recipe and share it with you!

The Best Ever Cream Cheese Frosting

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) butter
  • 16 ounces (2 packages) cream cheese
  • 2tsp vanilla extract
  • 6-8 cups powdered sugar

For most frosting recipes it really helps if you make sure your butter is room temperature, the same goes for this recipe as well.

Beat the cream cheese until it’s smooth before adding butter. Continue beating and add in the vanilla. Add powdered sugar in one cup at a time, beating until mixed. You can add more or less powdered sugar depending on how stiff you’d like your frosting. Enjoy!! Don’t forget to sneak a spoonful before frosting your cake.

  1. My baby turned 5 on March 9th! My oldest is 12 and I still haven’t figured out where the time goes. I’ve never made a cream cheese frosting before, so I’m going to try this!
